Judge sets trial date for US airline merger challenge




Washington, DC, federal judge has set a November 25 trial date for the Justice Department's anti-trust challenge to the proposed merger of US Airways Group and American Airlines parent AMR Corp, reported Dow Jones Newswires. US Airways and American had urged a trial date as soon as possible, citing the "steep costs and burdens" associated with the uncertainty over their future. They originally proposed a November 12 trial date. Justice Department lawyers had sought more time to prepare for the trial and requested that trial proceedings begin next March.
